Using transport rule to copy all emails from/to specific domains
Hi, using Exchange 2007 I need to do the following using transport rule (I cannot use journaling): 1. Copy all emails from AND to a list of domains such as ..@company1.com and @company2.com - I want to capture all communication with our clients. 2. To a a specific mailbox It should be easy, I can see the option "when the from address contains text patterns" but I cannot find anything for the "to address". I would like to find something like "when any of the recipient in the To or CC fields contains text patterns". am I missing something? Is it possible at all? Thanks! Bonus question: I understand that like journaling the transport rule is triggered on events and I should not miss any emails. Is this 100% correct?

I found that one would have to use the messageheader condition but somehow it doesn't allow to filter more than 1 expression at a time. the "when a message header contains a word" filter seems to only work when I set To or Cc individually. I can't seem to find a way to tell the rule to have both To and Cc matching the specific words. This seems to imply, I will have to set a rule for each - one for To and one for Cc. Having to manage my long domain lists TWICE. If someone knows how to set 2 message header expression in the same rule that would be nice. So far I tried to seperate each with , or ; or " " but that doesn't work.

The conditions in the Transport Rule is added up, that is to say if the Transport Rule is to fire, all your conditions must be met. In this case the domain name you want to Journal must be present in both TO and CC at the same time if you put them into the same Transport Rule. So to journal all email going out to a specific domain in Exchange 2007 you'd have to create 3 Transport Rules as I guess you'd also like to catch BCC's.Jesper Bernle | Blog: http://xchangeserver.wordpress.com

Thanks Jesper. I guess I will have to go with 4 rules: to, cc, bcc and from
