Using outlook security settings public folder on exchange 2007
I am encountering a problem when attempting to send programmatic mail thru a outlook 2003 SP2 client which is hooked up to an Exchange 2007 server. I had the same set up when i was running agaist an Exchange 2003 server and used the outlook security settings public folder with a default security settings post. Thiscombination with the reg key on the client machine allowed me to by pass thesecurity settings and my tests could send the mail. I need to do the same tests running my Outlook 2003 sp2 client agaist 2007 exchange. How do i get this to work? I have created the outlook security settings public folder on exchange 2007 and have copied the default security form from a machine in my Exchange 2003 domain and posted this to the correct public folder, set the reg key but i still get the warning message pop up when i attempt to send progammatic mail. I understand that this setting is no longer required for office 2007 and have set the group policy to get around it buit i still need to test with office 2003. Any help would be greatfully recived. Thanks

The security settings form is used in conjuction with pre-Outlook 2007, but Outlook 2007 can stil use this folder. The implementation is basically the same from the Exchange standpoint. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011402931033.aspx If you plan to use Outlook 2003 you need to change a registry setting to get it to work: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Security\CheckAdminSettings = 1 If you plan to use Outlook 2007, you can set all security permissions using a GPO (By default it will check if you have a well-configured antivirus client present; if so, the object model guard will be disabled/tuned down). Just download the Outlook 2007 adm templates. In here you can specify if you want to use the security template or the GPO settings. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb206767.aspx http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=92d8519a-e143-4aee-8f7a-e4bbaeba13e7&displaylang=en In both cases:Disable cache mode. This template will not work in cache mode. Cheers, Mark

Mpriem: You say that you need to disable cached mode, or the template will not work. But isn't that only when editing the template? The users who are to receive settings from the tempate can still run in cached mode, yes? Quoute: "Also, Outlook must be running in classic online mode, not cached mode or offline mode, in order to save security settings." http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011402931033.aspx Morgan
