Using IIS 6.0 for Outbound SMTP Relay
Hello, We have a Windows 2003 Server SP2 in our DMZ runnning ISA 2006 Standard Editiond SP1. 1. We are using a single network adapter configuration. 2. We have successfully configured the inbound mail to flow from the Internet through the DMZ and then relayed to our Exchange Server 2003 on our LAN. 3. How can do the same using IIS 6.0 to relay smtp outbound mail with the single network adapter configuration? LAN-DMZ-Internet (world) HELP!!!

You'd want to use the SMTP Service.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". "mannk1srq" wrote in message news:02e474ce-f312-4b84-94c9-4fc491c755c3... Santhosh/Ed, I undestand about the SMTP service in IIS 6.0 I have already setup relaying to internal (remote) domains internally through our DMZ using IIS 6.0. WORLD-DMZ-LAN My question is how can I set up OUTBOUND using the same IIS 6.0 SMTP virtual server. LAN-DMZ-WORLD

You can send an email from your client or application using LAN-DMZ-WORLD as your SMTP server. Ok here is the curveball.. We want the outbound mail routed through Microsoft Forefront Servers. So it looks like all our mail is coming from Forefront instead of our public ip address. Any thoughts?

In the IIS server you would configure the Forefront server's IP address or hostname to be the smart host.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". Ed, Can you walk me throught step by on how to this? 1. Configure the Exchange Server (LAN_DMZ) 2. Configure the IIS 6.0 virtual server to send outbound email to all domains through the MS Forefront Servers (LAN_DMZ_FOREFRONT_WORLD) Thanks, Kenneth
