Using Google Mail with Outlook and REST Property Management Software

Hi all,

I work in a real estate franchise that has recently transitioned to a corporate version of Gmail. For most users all things are going fine, however our property management department uses proprietary software designed especially for property management and this software has not been optimised for web based mail. The software will only use Outlook for outbound mail to landlords etc. and in the past (when using Exchange) the program would grab a copy of the sent email and archive it against the landlords name for future records.

Unfortunately since the upgrade to Gmail, sent emails are obviously not saved locally and it appears the program is attempting to retrieve sent mail from the local (personal) sent items folder to archive, which it cannot.

Is there a way we can perhaps remove the personal sent folder so that the only sent folder is the Gmail one? As unfortunately hand copying individual sent emails from Outlook to the archive folders is untenable.

Would welcome any fresh perspectives on this issue.

I'd try using an "after sending" rule - Copy the sent message to the local sent folder. If that doesn't work, try VBA - see the last macro at http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/rules/mark-items-read/

Thanks so much Diane.

After sending rules seems to have fixed the issue. Just as well coz the Macro stuff.....well beyond my particular skill set. :)
