Using Export-Mailbox to export to a Max Size PST
Is it possible to use Export-Mailbox to export to a maximum PST size? I'm exporting my journal mailbox to ship off to a cloud company for archival purposes. However, they cannot accept anything over 20GB. I'm using Exchange 2010 RU4 and plan to go to SP1 after the first of the year. I do a help export-mailbox -detailed, but I see no samples of how to export to a maximum PST of 4GB or so. Maybe if I could stipulate a date range instead of just the Start date... Thanks in advance, BurtThere's nothing so permanent as a temporary solution. - Me

Yep. I would export by date range or by folder to create multiple psts that are below the accepted size limit.

So I need a few more details please (maybe more of a sanity check). Since there is not an -EndDate switch, I assume I'd do about two weeks ago (or maybe a month ago. Will need to test) with the -DeleteContent switch. When that completes, do another two weeks prior and repeat until the mailbox is empty? This will be a lot of baby sitting. Can you figure out an easier way? Journal mailboxes pile everything in the Inbox, so folder is not an option. There's nothing so permanent as a temporary solution. - Me

Sounds like you are on track with using date ranges, however, if you want an alternative check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp since version 3.1 has the ability to create overflow PST's i.e. if PST size reaches xxGB create a new PST until it reaches XX GB and so on.Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com

Perhaps filtering by folders would make more sense. Are there any that are particulary large and could get their own pst?
