Using Exmerge with Exchange 2003
Hello, I am tryign to export all mailboxes from a recovered storage group DB. In the ESM I can see all the mailboxes and there are 478, when I run exmerge is only show 381 mailboxes to be exported. I assume it's because some users no longer have AD accounts, what can I do? Can I export the mailbox names showing in the ESM to text file, I can then get our developer to auto create the AD accounts on this test domain, but ignore if they exist? Thanks

You are correct, in order for ExMerge to see a mailbox the user and MB must still Exist in AD. Lucid8 makes a product called DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp that can overcome this. DigiScope allows you to open Exchange 2010, 2007, 2003, 2000 and 5.5 offline EDBs without the use of Recovery Storage Groups (RSG's) and doesn't require AD to access the mailboxes. Actually you can put DigiScope on as little as an XP desktop along with an EDB, disconnect it from the network and it will still open the EDB. Once opened you can browse, search, export to PST, MSG, & XML or recover data to any Live Production Exchange Server, even if its a different version of Exchange. ( although to recover to a live server you will need to be able to connect to that domain and FYI we support cross domain connectivity for recovery actions as well) Troy Werelius Lucid8
