Users not able to change password ......
Hi,Our users are facing some issue. When there mail password expires then outlook prompt for password change. But when they type new password they receive error that you have to login to domain in order to change the password. These users not login to domain from there computer. They login with local admin account. Is there any workaround by which this can be rectified. Thanks,

hi,how dothey use your exchange server? are they connect with pop3,vpn,owa ?and if they use pop3 to your exchange server you must change passwords from AD.and also you can set password never expire for external users.regards,Mumin CICEK | Exchange - MVP | www.cozumpark.com | www.mumincicek.com

You can set the option of "Password donot expire" but again it will be a security breach. If these machines cannot be joined to domain in that case i guess you will have to manually reset their password on DC Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Hi,Thats what the problem. How can I ask the higher authorities to say that password can not be changed from here. The users configure there outlook by using rpc over http.....I think that there should be some way by which it can be done. As why rpc over http is given if password changes can not be made..?Thanks.

Password and OL profiles are 2 different things. Password can be changed even if they are just using MAPI and not Rpc-over-Http. please understand that Outlook profiles has nothing to do with password. Mailboxes are AD objects and in order to access those objects users has to be authenticated by DC. and password are expired depending on the Group policy set. and once the password expires then DC will not authenticate and will not allow users to access resource objects until and unless user is logged in with new password Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Hi,Ok ...... That means that users can not change the password using outlook until they login to there domain with the computer. As when they login to there computer attached to domain. A dialog box will update them that there password is expired and you have to change the password first.....Am i right...Thanks.
