Users missing from Global Address List
I inherited administration of an Exchange 2003 SP2 running on Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I have two users that don't show up in the Global Address List when a user tries to browse the address list via Outlook. If I preview from in System Manager both users show correctly. They can send and receive emails okay. As part of this I also see that under Email addresses in Active Directory Users & Computers they don't have the X400 address. I tried to set this up but it didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had this problem when I had the User's Primary group set to something other than "Domain Users". They also would not show up in Distribution Groups properly.Active Directory Users and Computers - <container> - <user properties> - Member Of tab

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately I checked and both users primary group is Domain users already. I will try and toggle it to another group and see if that works. Still trying. Weird thing.

If the employees name is not showing up in Global address list in Outlook/email, check the Active Directory setting on the Account tab. Be sure the User login name boxes are filled in. This usually solves the problem for us. Hope this helps!

If they are running Outlook 2003 > - Check SP2 is installed for Office 2003 - Make sure "Cache mode" for Exchange server is OFF & user is not offline.

I tried and they were filled in. The tab labled "email Address" isn't there....the users email works. Thanks for the suggestion!

My only way to resolve it was to delete the users (leaving their mail file)and recreate them but attach them back to their mail file. Here are the instructions I followed: http://exchangeis.com/forums/thread/66.aspx Here is the experts-exchange link that I went through: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/Q_22603747.html Hope this helps. I had the same problem. I checked in ADSIEdit and the mailNickname attribute was empty. Once I set it back to the users' alias all was well.
