Users are not able to send mail above 20mb- Exchange 2007
I have Exchange server 2007 environment running, configured maximum message send/receive size limit to 20 MB in send/receive connector but users are not able to send mail above 5 MB. Initially users were able to send mail size of 20 MB, but not any more and i don't where exactly is the settings which is taking precedence of 5 MB quota. Also, verified transporter rule nothing has been configured there as well as verified the organizational limits and message size restriction in mail flow settings its not been configured. I'm not a messaging expert but been given to handle it for small organization. Thanks for your assistance.

There are multiple locations you have to set. Org Config > Hub Transport > Send Connectors Org Config > Hub Transport > Global Settings > Transport Settings Server Configuration > Mailbox > Database Mmanagement > (Properties of the Storage Group) Also the settings on each AD Account should be checked. I think that covers it. David Jenkins

Thanks for your input David. Org Config > Hub Transport > Send Connectors - Here and Receive connector only they configured message size limit to 20 MB. Org Config > Hub Transport > Global Settings > Transport Settings - Nothing was configured Server Configuration > Mailbox > Database Mmanagement > (Properties of the Storage Group)- Here we can configure the storage limit of the mailbox, but there is no message size limit setting. and nothing was configured in the individual mailbox setting (Properties of user mailbox> mail flow settings > message size restrictions). Hello, Please verify that the desired settings have captured in the schema... To use ADSI Edit to modify the global message size limits If it is necessary, install the Microsoft Windows Support Tools. For detailed instructions, see Install Windows Support Tools. Click Start, and then select Run. In the Open field, type C:\Program Files\Support Tools\Adsiedit.msc, and then click OK. Open ADSI Edit, expand Configuration, and then expand CN=Configuration..., expand CN=Services, expand CN=Microsoft Exchange, expand CN=<Your Exchange Organization Name>, and then select CN=Global Settings. In the result pane, right-click CN=Message Delivery, and then select Properties. In CN=Message Delivery Properties, select the Attribute Editor tab. In the Attributes section, locate the following attributes: delivContLength This is the incoming message size limit that corresponds to the MaxReceiveSize parameter in the Set-TransportConfig cmdlet. submissionContLength This is the receiving message size limit that corresponds to the MaxSendSize parameter in the Set-TransportConfig cmdlet. msExchRecipLimit This is the maximum number of message recipients that corresponds to the MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit parameter in the Set-TransportConfig cmdlet. To modify an attribute, select the attribute, and then click Edit. We recommend that you set each global message size limit to match the value of the corresponding organization message size limit. In the Integer Attribute Editor, perform one of the following actions: To remove the global message size limit, select Clear, and then click OK. The value of the attribute will be <not set>. To enter value for a specific global message size limit, in the Value field, type the value, and then click OK. Valid input values are as follows: delivContLength Valid input for this parameter is 0 to 2097151 KB. The default value is 10240 KB. submissionContLength Valid input for this parameter is 0 to 2097151 KB. The default value is 10240 KB. msExchRecipLimit Valid input for this parameter is 0 to 2147483647 recipients. The default value is 5000 recipients. Repeat step 6 for each global message size limit that you want to modify. To close CN=Message Delivery Properties, click OK and then click File, Exit to close ADSI Edit. From: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310771(EXCHG.140).aspx You can also run the following command to report your configured limits... Get-TransportConfig | fl max* Kind Regards

Hi There are 4 areas you can set the limit 1. Global/Organizational Limit 2. Connector Limit 2.1 Send Connector 2.2 Receive Connector 2.3 Active Directory SiteLink Limit 2.4 Routing Group Connector Limit 3. Server Limits 4. User Level Limits The Offical help site from Microsoft is Managing Message Size Limits http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124345(EXCHG.80).aspx Also there is a very Specific article by Amit Tank's Share, it teaches you step by step by setting the limit http://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2008/04/24/exchange-2007-where-to-set-message-mail-size-limit/ At last, content conversion generally increases the message size — roughly by 30%. For 20mb, approximately set to 26mb. Please refer to http://exchangepedia.com/2007/09/exchange-server-2007-setting-message-size-limits.html Hope those can solve your problem Cheers Zi Feng
