Users are automaticallly removed from distribution list

Hi All,

Recently we are having issue with Distribution List, where the members are removing automatically.

Not sure which is causing the issue..

DC is 2008 R2, Users mailbox is in exchange server 2013 (2012 server)

Could you please let me know why it is happening and how..

Also how can we resolve this issue?

I know of no built-in mechanism that changes distribution group membership.  Perhaps you have some schedule custom script somewhere that's doing this for you.

Could it be a dynamic distribution group?  If so, then if the users attributes change in such a way that the user does not qualify for the LDAP query, then they will be "removed" from the group.

Also, I would remove all owners of the distribution group in question and see if the behavior stops.  If it does, you have a user out there adding/removing users from the group.

If it was by an Exchange Admin using Exchange Admin Center of Exchange Management Shell or any scheduled script using Exchange shell then you can find from Admin Audit Log.

Simple cmdlet is to search who ran Remove-DistributionGroupMember cmdlet...

Search-AdminAuditLog -Cmdlets Remove-DistributionGroupMember

Hi

Thanks for your answers,

Let me give some more detail

These are normal DL (Not Dynamic)

Owner of the DL is adding the users through Outlook as a member.

Usually no application or script is harm any DL in our Org.. but i will crosscheck..

When i re-add those removed user from AD, after a day, again those users removed or throughout out automatically.
