User name not displayed in Global Adress List
i have a user who's last name was altered/changed in AD. After an unspecified amount of time , her name fails to appear in the Global Adress List, and the only way she receives email is if someone responded to her original emails, how can i get her to be seen in Active Directory again??

Here's a silly question, is the option "Hide from Exchange address lists" checked under the Exchange Advanced tab on the users' Active Directory property sheet?

No, i checked but i realized that under "Exchange Advance" tab that there's no name under the "simple display name" should i add her name there to see if i get the desired result? (seen in Global Adress List)

No, you don't have to put anything in there. We always had mixed results in renaming people when they marry/divorce. Here's a thought, can you export all of her stuff to a PST, then remove her mailbox and recreate it? Then you can import the PST. Seems like we have had to do that alot. Not for that same problem, but for other weird ones.

This is what i was instructed to do, i wanted to see if i can come across any other resolution before going for that method, do you know where i can get verbatim instructions to do this on exchange '07?? thank you.

Google or Bing I suppose. We use Exchange 03, so I'm sorry I can't be much help there. First, you'd have to export everything to a PST. If it were 2003, you'd just right-click them in Active Directory Users and Computers and remove their attributes and delete their mailbox. Then in the Exchange snap-in, you'd purge it. I don't know, maybe 07 is similar. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Forgot the most important part... after you've done that and it's replicated, you have to re-establish the mailbox. If you right-click the person and do Exchange tasks, you should have an option to establish a mailbox. In our organization, it takes a little while. Like I said before though, I'm not sure if any of that applies to 07.

In addition, you just need to change the name in both ADUC(DC) and ADUC(exchange 2003) or EMC (exchange 2007). After that, you need to update the OAB manually or wait to be updated automatically, then down the OAB on outlook. This is for cached mode. And if you run the outlook online mode, the address should be shown in GAL immediately.Frank Wang

Unfortunately after manually updating OAB my user still doesn't show up in my Global Adress List. arrrgggggg......please help. While further reviewing ADUC, i noticed that the user in question had a path to another users home folder under "Profile" i omitted that path and voila, they show up in Active Directory, so where i was not able to even see the users name come up in ADUC, it shows up now, the second part to my issues is the User not showing up in the Global Adress List, so im still in the same boat. Help........please........Thank You ........
