User mailbox can't remove after AD user object removed
I tried to remove an Exchange user from the network but, accidentally, I removed the AD user object before the mailbox is removed. Now, I can't remove the mailbox through the "Remove" option in Exchange Management Console. Please kindly suggest by what way I can remove this "orphan" mailbox. BTW, I wonder why the AD doesn't warn me before I remove the user ID or should the AD remove the mailbox while I remove the user? Strange! Thanks and regards, JosephJoseph Liu

Hi Joseph,Which version of Exchange do you use? I assume Exchange 2007 as per your previous queries :)How did you remove the user? If you use Active Directory Users & Computers (ADU&C) then it doesn't understand the Exchange 2007 mailboxes. You need to use Exchange Management Console or Shell to perform any activiity on Exchange 2007 mailbox enabled user.- Where do you see mailbox now in EMC, I mean in under Recipient Configuration -> Mailbox or under Recipient Configuration -> Disconnected Mailboxes?- If you see under Disconnected Mailbox then you can use Remove-Mailbox cmdlet to delete the mailbox. Check out below article.Cant see Deleted Mailbox in Disconnected Mailbox under Recipient Configurationhttp://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2008/04/27/cant-see-deleted-mailbox-in-disconnected-mailbox-under-recipient-configuration/- If it still shows underRecipient Configuration -> Mailboxthen you need to run Clean-MailboxDatabase cmdlet on mailbox database where mailbox is available.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
