User just got married...looking to change name
We are running Windows Server 2k3 and Exchange 2k3.I have a user that just got married and would like her name to be changed to reflect her new name.I am curious if someone can outline the steps to properly do this. I know that it has to be changed in several places or it will not show up correctly. Also, does this only need to be changed in Exchange or AD as well.Thank you in advance for your helpmcp

In Exchange add another SMTP record with the new name for the user. Set it as default. Leave the old name in place for ever. See here for more info:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123794.aspxFor AD there is a script out there that can help: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/resources/qanda/dec04/hey1206.mspx SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS

Hi, (On Exchange 2k3 server) Just change the Display name and object name in ADUC.MSC by right click on object - Rename. Add addition SMTP address with new name on Email addresses tab. make that address primary. you should be good to go. Thanks. thank you. This is great information. In addition to this, what about the users local profile? How would that work? We use offline files for their My Docs and synchronize.mcp

If you don't remove the AD user object then you don't have to worry about local profile because it is attached with SID, not with user name. But if you re-create a AD user account then you have to copy or synchronize everything again...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
