User do not show up in GAL Exchange 2007
Im wondering if you could assist with a problem that Ive been having for a day or two that is driving me nuts. Ive inherited an environment running with Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2007 clients. Im having an issue with 1 (as far as I know) users not showing up in the GAL; this is happening with clients in the entire office, just not a few machines .Try to update few properties but users are still not showing up in the GAL. and tried the below steps .. Verified the Hide from Exchange Address list is NOT checkedDisabled Outlook cached mode and searched for users; they appearedRe-enabled cached mode and the users were no longer visibleChecked user AD attributes using ADSI: the correct mail, mailnickname, and ShowInAddressBook are displayedRan Get-Mailbox identity USERNAME | fl EmailAddresses, WindowsEmailAddress and they both are identicalRan Get-mailbox USERNAME | Select AddressListMembership and it returned \Defualt Global List, \All UsersIf I try a search using OWA the user is foundSet-Mailbox <mailbox> -ApplyMandatoryPropertiesIf I use Outlook 2007 client and go to New-> To: -> advanced search he is found without errorIf I search All users he is found again without issuesI checked AD users and computers -> advanced view -> user properties ->Published certificates found user has no certificates listed (we use a few self-signed certificates); this was a fix listed here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrclients/thread/cb999685-0054-4a2e-800c-36495051b9e2/#57d84f18-2034-4f46-92c8-a27205bab5fe There is a mention of a hotfix, but I have been unable to locate it Im starting to run low on things to check. Can anybody offer any pointers? Thanks

Amit, Open a tool called ADSIEDIT and do a search for the objects in ADSIEDIT. Becareful with this tool as it is basically the registry for active directory. Once you find the object look for msExchHideFromAddressLists set this to true, press ok and wait for replication. It should show up thereafter. Your users depending if they are in cached mode with out look might have to download another address book manually. Let us know how this works, thanks

no .. actually that was not the issue is something different we have a setup like below and as per the article Offline Address Book Generation Fails on a Server That Is Running Exchange 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285503(v=exchg.80).aspx in Technet that mentioned events are logged when the EnableOabGenOnThisNode registry entry is missing or when the registry entry contains an invalid server name. i have exchange server CCR setup in three regions US , ASPAC and EMEA but in that only US server is a OAB generation server can say USNode2 so as per the article we changed the setting in registry and set USNODE2 as this is a active one as of now.but small doubt i have should i change the registry setting on other regions servers as well. Other region servers i checked and found that their local servers mentioned in the registry but they are not the OAB generation servers , there is only one in the entire org. and that is US server (US NODE2) and Should i put virtual server name in the other regions servers or it should be the local names only like (ASPACNODE1/2).. thanks

Hi All, got the below article which pointing to NO instead CAS ( all regions ) has to download or copy from other region (US) OAB generation servers and download it to the IIS OAB from there Autodiscovery will take care .. So i am closing this thread here . Thanks . http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2006/11/15/3397281.aspx
