User cannot search mailbox
Outlook/Exchange 2007 SP2 A user cannot carry out searches within his mailbox, there are no items returned. He definately has the items there. I've heard that we can reset the search index for the user's mailbox on his server. 1. Does anyone know a safe way to do this and how does this work exactly? 2. Will this affect other users? 3. Will this cause a load on the server? 4. Should this be done out of hours? 5. Will this have a negative effect on the user (can it be done whilst he's working)? 6. Would this problem affect both Outlook and OWA?

Hi, If the user is using Outlook 2007 in cached Exchange mode. You had better try to solve the issue at client end follow these setups. 1. In Outlook, go to Tools | Instant Search | Search Options 2. Uncheck the box for your inbox and press OK. 3. Re-open the Search Options window and check the box for your inbox (I do this just to reset things) 4. Go to your Control Panel and make sure you’re in Classic View 5. Open ‘Indexing Options’ 6. Under Microsoft Office Outlook, single click on your account and Click on Advanced 7. In the Advanced Options window click on the Rebuild button 8. Click OK to rebuild the index. 9. Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel 10. Click on Microsoft Office Professional (or whatever version your office is) 11. Click on Change 12.Select “Repair” and click on Continue After it is finished you have to reboot the computer and Microsoft Outlook Instant Search shall be good as new!
