User cannot access mailbox using OWA after disabling In-Place Archive

Strange issue....

Exchange 2013

One of our users was complaining that old emails were no longer showing up in his inbox.  After verifying it was due to the In-Place Archiving being enabled on his mailbox, I logged into his OWA account, manually moved all of the emails back into his Inbox, and disabled Archiving on his mailbox.  We are a small organization, and have ample space for very large mailboxes, so Archiving isn't really needed at this point.

Since this has been done, the user is no longer able to access his mailbox via OWA.  After he logs in, he gets the "Outlook Web App" splash screen, and the spinning "Almost there.." image.  The mailbox never comes up.  He is able to access email just fine, using his full Outlook client and smartphone.  No other users are having issues.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue are greatly appreciated!

Enter:

Get-Mailbox -Identity "Name of User" | FL

and see if there are any traces of the archive in any of the properties.

Hi,

Based on my knowledge, disabling In-Place Archive should not corrupt OWA. If the mailbox size is too large, it takes more time to login OWA. I recommend you check if this problematic user can login ECP. If yes, I recommend you enable the In-Place Archive as a workaround. If no, you can recreate ECP and OWA virtual directory to check the result.

Hope this can be helpful to you.

Best regards,
