User Alias unable to change
We recently migrated from exchange 2000 to 2007 and for the most part it went really well. Just a few little things. The latest oneis I can not seem to change the alias of a user in Exchange 2007 if the GUI says it is in error. When I change the alias to a valid name it still seems to pick up the original value. I figure this is a bug in the GUI so I'm sure this will need to be changed using the Exchange Managment Shell but I'm not sure exactly what I need to type. Below are the errors I'm getting. The properties on 'ABC Admin' have invalid data. If you click OK, default values will be used instead and will be saved if you do not change them before hitting Apple or OK on the property page. If you click cancel, the object will be displayed read-only and corrupted values will be retained. The following values have invalid data:Alias. I Change the Alias to 'ABCAdmin' (remove the space) "ABC Admin" is not valid for Alias. Valid values are: Strings formed with characters from a to z (upper or lowercase), digits from 0 to 9, !, #, $, %, &, ', *, +, -, /, =, ?, ^, _, {, |, } or ~. One or more periods may be embedded in an alias, but each one of them should be preceded and followed by at least one of the other characters. Unicode characters from U+00A1 to U+00FF are also valid in an alias, but they will be mapped to a best-fit US-ASCII string in the email address which is generated from such an alias. The GUI shows a red exclimation mark next to the alias field. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever get a fix for this problem? I'm encountering the same issue with aliases migrated froma Exchange 2003 server.

Is it matching that of AD? Will it let you change it in AD?

This issue is not fixed yet in the 2007 GUI so the only waythis can be changed this is via the Exchange Managment Shell.I decided to leave this one user alone for now and will address it when I need to make a change to that specific user.

Have you tried changing the alias with ADSIEdit or LDP?

Changing it in AD does not pass through to Exchange 2007.

Hi Guys, I found the easiest was to amend the Alias on the Exch2003 box....it seems happy then.

Yes, That would have been easier...Would have also been great if before exchange was installed completely it would do a environment check and let you know about these odd accounts that are easier to fix on the old version. I didn't see this one account until after my old exchange 2000 server was already decommissioned. So, The question is how do youcorrect this in a pure Exchange 2007 environment.

Is there a single powershell command that can change the alias to be the same as their username for all accounts on the Exchange server? We recently updated all of the usernames in the Active Directory, but unfortunately all the Alias' remained the same.
