Use separate send connector at each AD site
Hi, I have 2 AD sites, both sites have an EX2010 HT,CAS,MBX server, and a single email domain. Sites are connected via a VPN tunnel and both sites have their own internet gateway. Right now i have one send connector at the main site and both sites use this to send outgoing mail. However, i want the 2nd site to use its own internet gateway to send outgoing mail, so it wont strain the VPN connection between the sites. Is this possible?

Hi, Create a new Internet Send connector in the second site. If more than one available connector exists, the best choice is determined by the following: a. Least routing cost based on aggregated site costs. A connector in the local site will always be preferred over a connector hosted in a remote site. b. Whether the connector is hosted by the same hub transport server that is making the routing decision. A connector on the same server is always preferred over a connector on another hub transport server in the same site. c. Alphanumerically, meaning that the connector name that comes first in alphanumeric order is used. Adam Bokiniec

Adam is correct. You need to delete all the other send connectors and create such a send connector. Name: Outgoing Type: Internet Address: * Cost:1 Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
