Use exchange 2010 hub in a mixed environment
Hi all! we have a customer who are planning a move from Exchange 2007 to exchange 2010. We will install Exchange2010 cas/hub servers to start with. The old 2007 cas/Hub servers are currently suffering from bad performance. When we add the 2010 hub servers servers to the organisation, will they be utilized at all since all the mailboxes still resides on 2007? Best regards, UC

You will need to maintain the Exchange 2007 hub transport server. All documented on Technet. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638158.aspx Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hi and thanks for a fast answer! is there a way to offload the 2007 servers with the 2010 servers? For example outbound email or to route email to other sites?

Hi Yes, you can use the 2010 servers to accept and send all mail for your domain and then they can route only mail destined for 2007 mailboxes to those servers. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb738138.aspx Cheers, Steve

Hello, You must keep the Exchange 2007 HUB until you move all mailbox to the Exchange 2010. Then you can remove your Exchange 2007. Regards, Eli. -User Group -29.4. - http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/3144745017.
