Urgent! Migrated Pub. Folders to Exch2007, emails no longer IPM.POST
I understand by default public folders should set messages to IPM.POST for all incoming messages. However they look like regular emails (IPM.NOTE?) How do I switch them back? We need to do this as we have an app which only reads posts. This only seemed to happen after migrating public folders to Exchange 2007.

this article is for exchange 2000/3 but might also apply: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;817809 Code Block The following information applies to both Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003.Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. After you install this update, incoming messages to public folders can have their message class changed to IPM.Note instead of IPM.Post. You can configure this new setting by creating the Incoming registry value in the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\<ServerName>\Public-<GUID> Value name: Incoming defaults to IPM.NoteValue type: DWORDValue data: 0 or 1 0 (zero) is default (0=false).

Hi Mike,It looks like this requires a patch which would be made for Exchange 2000/2003. Im guessing it won't install on the Exchange 2007 machine, not something I would like to try.I will see if the switch exists in the registry. If anyone else has any other ideas please let me know. Can anyone with Exchange 2007 test this to see if they get the same behaviour?

yes, i was not suggesting you install the patch, but to add that value to your registry. this is something that does not exist by default on any version of exchange, so there is nothing to look for. you just need to add the value. please try this and report back.

HI, Interestingly I'm having the oposite problem. I need the messages to be IPM.Note not IPM.Post Did you get this fixed for your situation? I also saw this reg hack for Exchange 2003. I will test is on an Exchange 2007 and report back. Thanks, Tke402
