Upgrading Previous Office to Office 365 ProPlus properly

Hi

we're thinking about upgrading our Office versions to Office 365 ProPlus

there are clients with Office 2010\Office 2007.

I know this article https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn921831.aspx though it only talks about uninstall previous and install the new office

I know that if I wanna upgrade from 2010 to 2013 I have a possibility to migrate all my current settings, selection options and outlook profile, but what's the proper way to do it with Office 365 ProPlus?

does it takes all the keys from Microsoft\Office\14.0 and knows to match them into Microsoft\Office\15.0 ?

Hi Tamir:

Per my test, it shouldnt make much difference compare to upgrading to Office 2013 from client side perspective.

For registry entries, Ive tested by importing the registry keys I exported from Office 2010, some of the common settings will be recognized like your setting of Ribbon. But I dont know if all the registry entries will be recognized Office 365.

Hope it answered your question. If you have further queries or request, please let me know. Thank you.

That's what i'm talking about Chloe

I'm not about guessing here as I'm searching for an Enterprise solution for an organization.

I know that upgrading office will know to migrate settings. for example - Outlook profile settings,  Macro settings in Excel, typing direction in Word... etc...

it doesn't make sense that those options will not be available for O365 ProPlus

Hi Tamir:

For Enterprise user my recommendation is to use Office Deployment Tool to deploy Office 365. This article explained the detailed how-to steps. At /configure mode, you can specify all the settings you want to be aplied to clients side. Reference for Click-to-Run configuration.xml explianed all the elements in details. This is a more efficient way to do customization among organization.

There's two more refererence for you:

If you have any confusion regarding above information, please post your question in Office 365 forum, you will be able to get a better assistant on this request.

Thanks.

Hi Chloe

I appreciate your efforts for this answer

nothing is new for me in this articles. I already use the office deployment tool to deploy Office 365 ProPlus. there's no other way really...

what I asked is about migrate user settings from the current Office installed

if there's no official way - that's very unfortunate, but so be it
