Upgrading 2003 active directory to 2008 AFTER deploying Exchange 2010
I know the best practice (or at least I was told so) for order of upgrade is to upgrade one's active directory to 2008 before deploying Exchange 2010 (upgrading our 2003 Exchange to 2010 with temporary coexistance) but why? We are already planning to upgrade our active directory from '03 to '08 R2 but my management want's Exchange 2010 in faster. So, we were planning an upgrade path with coexisting 2003 and 2010 exchange servers and then upgrading our AD to '08. What are the pitfalls, issues etc. with this course of action as opposed to upgrading AD first? Thanks in advance!!

Hi, Installing Exchange 2010 to the current Exchange environment and then upgrade your AD to 2008, is that ture? Base on my reseach, there's no known issue for that deployment. Please verify the health of your Exchange orgnization before you begain to upgrade AD to windows 2008. You can shut down your Exchange 2003 and then monitor wether Exchange 2010 can work well. After you upgrade, please check if Exchange can find the DC with checking event 2080.
