I am planning my upgrade process to 2010 and would like to know if the existing SSL certificate will migrate and apply to the new exchange installation? I am planning on upgrading in place on the same boxes that i have 2k7 installed on. Thanks.

In Exchange 2010 server you may require a certificate that can represent multiple domain names SAN (Subject Alternate Name) , however, you can utilize a wildcard certificate also. Thanks Mhussain

The issue with the current certificate may well be the additional names - they may have the names of the servers involved. Furthermore, if you are going to have a co-existence period then you will need to have two different URLs - one for each version of Exchange. Therefore in most cases a new certificate is used, either as a replacement for the SSL certificate on all servers (so it has common name, legacy URL, autodiscover and the server names) or as an additional certificate. Exchange 2010 needs to be installed on new servers and your data and services transitioned across. Thanks. i was unclear on the upgrade process. So it really is not an 'Upgrade'. You have to build a new exchange server and 'Migrate' to it. Not a trivial process for an SMB. I will adjust my plans accordingly.
