Upgrade Eval version to licensed version
Hello all, I have upgraded an evaluation version of Server 2003 standard to R2 Windows standard server . Well after I've done that the upgrade renamed my machine. So I was unable to get into Active Directory. I connected to Active Directory with the old computer name and added the new computer name that the machine was given and now I am able to access AD. The problem is I have SQL dbs and things on this machine and they are looking for the old server name. This machine is seen as a workstation and not a domain controller. If I run a dcpromo on the machine, it wants to remove active directory from the machine. When I check My Network places it sees both of the computers there, but when I create a new share the old name doesn't display the new share. Does anyone have any suggestions or even ideas as to why the upgrade would rename the machine? If more info is needed please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help. Pelton Esannason
