Update Rollup 5 Exchange 2007 SP1 - Setup Ended Prematurely
I have been trying toinstall Update rollup 5 for Exchange 2007 on 2 CCR mailbox role servers. I get the error that the setup ended prematurely right after it says it is Stopping Services. I have attempted to perform the following:1. Verified the exchangesetuplogs folder is at the root of C:\2. Re-registerd Windows Installer3. Verfied that the environment variables are set to C:\Temp and the appropriate permissions are applied4. Using Admin account5.Verfiedthat no other updates are installed for Exchange 2007I am trying this on thepassive node first. The server is Windows 2003 R2 SP2 x64. Hi,Since you are installing Rollups in CCR environment, it may different from the normal installation. I recommend you to go throgh Applying Exchange 2007 Update Rollups to Clustered Mailbox Serversand then follow detail steps in How to Install Update Rollups in a CCR Environmentto install Rollup5.Regards,Xiu

Thank you for your reply.I followed those intructions and I still receive the same message at the same point. Let me know if you need further log information. The XML files for stoppedservices and serviceregistrydata do appear in the temp folder right before the installation fails. .

Hi,If you have previous rollup installed, like rollup 4,rollup 3,2,1.Please try to uninstall these rollups and reboot the server ,after that Please run ExBPA to get a health report.Then please try to install rollup5 with Exchange2007-KB953467-x64.-EN.msp /lxv* c:\953467.log" from a command prompt. If the setup fails, then please send logs listing below to me. 1. c:\953467.log 2. ExBPA report 3. Servicecontrol.log Besides, please let me know which rollup that you have installed. Regards, Xiu

Hi,I peformed the operations below and still received the failure notice. I verifed that no other previous rollups have been installed prior. I also ran the EXBPA and have sent you all 3 logs you have requested in .zip form.I wasnt sure which portion of the EXBPA you needed so if i different one is required just let me know.Thank youJeff

The logs indicate that when running the script "servicecontrol.ps1' BeforePatch during the RU5 installation it fails and returns Error 0x80070001: CAQuietExec FailedOn the Exchange server open Exchange management shell.Please try to follow the steps below to correct the issue. 1. I finally was able to figure it out. The service lsi_sas had 2 entries for ImagePath pointing to the same driver file location in the registry. I removed one of the entries and the hotfix rollup installed successfully.Thank you for your assistance.

This has caused me a headache for over a week.... All clients had authentication prompts, rollup patch is the fix.... However on SBS2010 you are mprompted to create a new administrator. The rollup failed under this account. We finally re-enabled the Administrator account and logged in, the rollup patch then applied without error. I hope this helps. regards, Boris Alden
