Unsolicited Delivery notifications from System Administrator
Hello, Recently a Managing Partner has begun to receive unsolicited delivery notifications about messages that were successfully received by one mail recipient out of a number of groups and listed recipients. The user did not configure the communication for any notification and only receives notification of success for one recipient out of eight or more; including several groups. This has occurred at least twice this week with no recognizable pattern. Questions: Is anyone familiar with this scenario? What log files can I review to discern the cause for these submissions? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Please describe the exchange topology Please also describe more about the “Managing Partner” and the recipients, whether they are external or internal users? Can’t the issue be reproduced permanently on specific recipient? Please provide the information in the delivery notification Please check the message headers of the delivery notification and the messages that triggered the notificationJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi James, These are internal users [Managing Partner =Title; i.e. CEO. The notification is similiar to that which one would receive if the user had enabled "Request a Deliver Receipt". However, these options were not enabled and the user is receiving delivery confirmation for one recipient out of 20+. The number of affected users has broadened and includes users of different departments and paygrades. The issue occurs randomly.

Where are they coming from? Have you looked at the internet headers of the messages? Or message tracking?

The messages are coming from our own Exchange Server. However, the sender has not enabled any delivery options and only receives the notification about one recipient out of several DLs and several intended recipients.
