Universal Distribution Groups not listed in Address list
Hello My "Mail-Enabled Universal Distribution Groups" and "Mail-Enabled Security Groups" are not listed in the Exchange 2007 address list. The Client does only see some created "Dynamic Distribution Group". They are not hidden from the GAL and the Icon is colored in the EMC. When I change the view in Outlook from "Global adress list" to "all Group" they where listed, but not bold as the dynamic ones (why bold?). What do I have to do? Thanks Norbert

Hi Norbert, If you run below command then does it shows the Default Global Address List membership? Get-DistributionGroup | FT Name, AddressListMembership Output: Name AddressListMembership ---- --------------------- ExFullAdmin {Default Global Address List, All Groups} If not then check if you can set it by below command (I didnt test this since I dont havetest env.rightnow) Get-DistributionGroup | Set-DistributionGroup -AddressListMembership Default Global Address List

Hi Amit Thanks for your reply! I checked the AddressListMembership and all of them where listet in the Global Address List. Also when I delete the Membership (ADSIEdit) it will be readded as it should ;-)... I updated the offline address book in Exchange, and downloaded it in Outlook (send/receive - dl adr book). But it does not show in the list. I also noticed, that OWA shows all groups. What can I do else? Thanks Norbert

Hello Amit On one client it does not show, but it seems to be an other Outlook issue. ;-)Anyway - I tried some other clients and all of them are able to display the addresslists, if they are in online mode. What does this mean? Thanks

If it shows correctly in online mode thenlooks like an Offline Address Book issue. Check default offline address list has included the default global address list selected. Reference: How to Add or Remove an Address List from an Offline Address Book If you have multiple OAB created on server then make sure the correct OAB attached with users/databases. Reference: How to Provision Recipients for Offline Address Book Downloads Check if you are gettingany error about OAL Generator on server. You can rebuild OAB at last butthat will cause all clients to process a full offline address book download. For OAB Version 2 and OAB Version 3a&a full offline address book download can cause massive network traffic between client access servers and clients. Alternatively you can check by creating a new temp OAB with same configuration and attache it with a test/temp user and see if it shows correctly in cache mode.

Hello Amit thanks for your support. I checked the inputs you gave me, thanks. I created a new e-mail adress poliy which triggers on an extension attribute. If I add this kexword to the distribution listsattribute, it will be listed in theOAB. Dogroups have to"match" to ae-mail address policy? If there is a change made, how do I've to update the OAB? IS it enought to "Update" it on the Exchange Server and Re-Download it on the client? This should made the newest information available, right? Thanks Norbert

Yes Norbert,OAB by default updates everyday 5AM. You can do it manually by using update-offlineaddressbook <OAB Name> command.

Hello Amit OK - I wil check that. About the address policy I wrote before. I this normal? It looks strange to me, that this groups are listed after I entered the extension attribute which machtes to an "Email addr policy". They don't need this normaly... And this only in cached mode... Any idea about this? Thanks (again) Norbert

By default it should shows all groups in OAB since those are member of Default Global Address List. I am not sure why it shows only when you added a email address policy with extension attribute, are you using any custom OAB instead of Default OAB? If so then please post the configuration here so we can figure out more.

Yes, the OAB was deleted and recreated a few weeks ago with the same name. But, the Options should be the same, for example the "AddressLists" has to include the "Default Global Address List" and enable the Web Distribution. Also the assignment to the MBX Store has be done.

After many hours, the groups where listed in the oab. Seams the scheduler fixed it. But the manual "Update" and "Download" didn't worked. is there more to do, to get a "new version" of the oab? Thanks Norbert
