Uninstall MailBox Role in Exchange 2007 SP1 (in coexistence with Exch 2003).
Hi There, I do not have too much experience with Exchange, but when I entered the company, they had an Exch Server 2003 running on a primary domain controller. It supports around 7-8 clients, since the company is not that big. Well, few days ago I decided to install Exchange 2007 SP1 on a x64 Windows 2008 (running as a domain controler). Before doing anything I read some things about coexistence of Exch 2003 with Exch 2007 and I made a default install of Exch 2007 SP1. It seemed it installed some connectors on the Exch 2003 and could read somehow the configuration (Storage groups, mailboxes, etc) from Exch 2003 server. I created a new mailbox for an newly AD created user (mailbox residing on the Exch 2007 server) and I tryied to connect to it using Outlook 2007, same way I do connecting to the Exch 2003. I got an error that the connection was refused and that Outlook cannot create the folders or such thing. I decided to uninstall Exchange 2007 SP1. i could remove however only the Client Access Role. I'm trying to remove the MailBox Role but I get this Error: "The public fiolder database "ServerName\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database" is the default public folder database for the following mailbox database (s): ServerName\Fisrt Storage Group\Mailbox Database. Before deleting the public folder database, assign a new public folder database to the mailbox database (s)." Does anyone has any advice for me? Thank you in advance, Catalin.

Hi Catalin, Go to Exchange 2007 Management Console -> Server Configuration -> Mailbox -> Select your Exchange 2007 Server -> Right Click on Mailbox Database -> Client Settings -> Select Browse for Default public folder database and slecet Public Folder Database of Exchange 2003 Server temporary. Then try to uninstall Exchange 2007 Mailbox server role.
