Uninstall Lync

I would like to uninstall Lync. I am getting side x side errors.

I have no need for Lync, have never used it, and do not envisage any situation where I would want it. Can I simply remove it.

Have googled, and looked at some the suggested related threads, but there seems to be a complete lack of simple answers.

Hi,

How did you install Lync then? Was it a standalone version or it came as a part of Office suite?

If it's a standalone version, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, find Lync and right click on it to select "Uninstall".

If it came with Office, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, find Office and right click on it, select "Change". There should be the option "Add or Remove Features", select it and click "Continue". Find Lync and make it "Not Available", click "Continue" then follow the rest steps to uninstall Lync.

Hi

Thanks very much for taking the time to read and reply. It really is much appreciated.

Lync appears to have been installed as part of Office 365. I did not see any option to select which parts of Office 365 I wanted.

I had already tried the "Change" option in Control Panel Add or Remove. Unfortunately it seems that in Office 365, the only option you are given is "Quick Repair" or "Online Repair"! I tried both, but none gave you any options whatsoever.

That was when I started Googling, and while there seems to be many answers finding an appropriate (and correct) one is difficult.

So I'm guessing that MS do not want us to make any changes whatsoever in the installed version of office365!

Hi,

For individual users, there's no such method to choose which to install or uninstall from Office 365.

For administrators, they can add or remove products from the installation by configuring the configuration.xml file.

While you can't uninstall it, you can set it so it doesn't load with windows. Look in Lync's Tools > Options > Personal for the option to start when windows starts.
