I followed these steps : http://www.expta.com/2011/07/how-to-configure-exchange-2010-sp1.html to establish a federation with another domain but I am unable to finalize the organization relationship.

Here's what I get when I run a "Get-FederationTrust" :

I suspect it has something to do with the fact that we only have an SRV record for the automatic configuration of our Outlook and IMAP clients. However the testexchangeconnectivity.com site doesn't report any issues ...

Any idea how to better pinponit where the issue might come from ?

Search for the message "Federation information could not be received from the external organization".  There are numerous potential causes that'll show up in Internet search results.
