Hello, Currently we have to locations with each location hosting an Exchange 2003 Server. Both locations are connected via VPN Tunnel. For some reason when we lose the VPN Tunnel connection users in Location A are not able to view busy/free calendar info for users that are on same location (A). When a user in Location A attempts to schedule a meeting and add others from Address Book that are also in Location A, the calendar shows as \\\\\\\\\\\\\ and displays "No information. No Free/Busy information could be retrieved." Can anyone assist with this issue? Most of our users are in location A and only few in location B. Both exchange server were setup before I started working for this company and my guess some setting need to be moved over to server in Location A....not sure what that is. Thanks.....B

HI, Where is Public folder server location is it siter A or site B. Go into exchange 2003 mailbox databse in site A and go in property and check public folder setting in client TAB. Make sure that you free/busy is replicating between your PF databases at each site. Make sure that each Exch server in each site has a PF database and is replicating to each other. Then as Anil said, make sure that each mailbox database points to the local PF database server on exch server at each site. Sukh

I opened System Manager>Administrative Groups>First Administrative Group>Servers which shows both Location A and Location B I expanded Location A and expanded the First Storage Group which shows >Mailbox Store(LOC A-Server): in the properties I see Default Public store as “..\ LOC A-SERVER \First Storage Group\Public Folder Store (LOC A-SERVER)”. Also, the Offline Address list shows as “Default Offline Address List”. > Public Folder Store (LOC A-SERVER): in the Properties>General tab I see the Associate Public Folder tree as “First Administrative Group/Public Folder The issue only happens when I lose the VPN tunnel between both locations. I think each location has own pub1.ed and pub1.stm and do replicate since it works when VPN Tunnel is active. Is it possible to make exchange server location A to be main db to avoid future issues? Can you please provide more details on where in Exchange I need to check for the free/busy folder? I want to make sure that Location A is controlling the service. Thanks...B

Hi, It seems the uses in Location A unable to locate the appropriate free/busy folder. When locating a user's free/busy public folder, Outlook starts by retrieving the user's legacyExchangeDN value from Active Directory, and then uses that value to identify the name of the free/busy folder and the subject line of the appropriate free/busy message. Outlook then searches for the appropriate folder and message, starting with the specified user's default public folder store, and if necessary, requesting a referral to an appropriate server. This folder contains a separate subfolder for each administrative group in your Exchange organization. For example, consider a user with the legacyExchangeDN of /o=Microsoft/ou=APPS-ABC/cn= RECIPIENTS/cn=ASAMPLE. The user's free/busy data is stored in a message with the subject line USER-/cn=RECIPIENTS/cn=ASAMPLE. The message is posted in the folder EX:/o=Microsoft/ou=APPS-ABC, which is a subfolder of SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY. So, please check the legacyExchangeDN of the users.
