Unable to rename a folder.
Hi We have a PC running Vista x64 with SP1. A folder was created some weeks ago directly beneath C: assume it's called "Devstuff" Everything in this folder can be freely modified without issue, sub-folders can be renamed, created etc. However, if one right-clicks on this folder (i.e. C:\Devstuff) and attempts to rename it, you get a problem dialog saying that you need permissions to perform this action. I have examined the permissions for both C: and Devstuff, and each of these seems to grant full control to the logged in user. Clearly there is some access right that is not granted to the logged in user, but it is bewildering and beginning to cause issue for developers. Can anyone here advise us on how to determine EXACTLY what user is missing what right? It would certainly help if the dialog telling you that permission is required, had a "More" button that one could press to see exactly which resource was denying access and why, as it is this is far from obvious and very time consuming to explore, after all the folder was created in the first place by the same user !! Thanks H
