Unable to remove some mailboxes from Exchange 2003 server
Hi
We have multiple exchange 2003 sp2 servers in a single Org. We are in the process of of removing an Exchange server, there are around 15 mailboxes that would not move, these mailboxes are no longer in use as the last logon time is by the engineer that was dealing
with it over a month ago however the AD account for the mailboxes still exists and are enabled, if i compare the Exchange tabs to an account that's working they all look identical. The mailboxes also open fine using outlook.
When we right click on any of the mailbox in ESM the "Exchange Tasks" option is not listed and the purge and reconnect options are greyed out we believe this could be because the original engineer has made changes in ADSI edit in an attempt to fix it but actually
made it worse however we wont know as hes no longer here.
We have tried to run the clean up agent but it doesnt resolve the issue
Anyone got any ideas
Thanks
Nick

Try moving those mailboxes from one store to another and try deleting it.
and if there are no mailboxes in store - you can try dismount this database and create new database and try removing users. as you said mailboxes are not in use.
And if you want to compare what going wrong with these specific mailboxes as something got changed by some engineer. Give me LDP dump for a working user and other of non-woking
user. i will let you know what is missing.

Since all the mailboxes are not in use, we can directly do and delete the store from ADSIEDIT.
I dont see any issues with the LDP dump.
Try moving the mailboxes in the same server and see if that works.
