Unable to remove logfile and database file .edb from the deleted database

Hi All,

We have deleted the database using adsiedit.msc, But now we are unable to delete the folders database files .edb and log files,

When we are deleting the .edb database folder we are getting the below error,

The action can't be completed because the file is open in Microsoft Exchange Information Store

and the same error when we are deleting logfiles,

Request your help on this!!!

Hi

Did you have a problem that you used ADSIEDIT to remove the dB? Have you uninstalled exchange? try stopping the exchange services and see if you can delete the db and logs.

I would move them to a new location unless you do not require this anymore.

Did you manage to move all mailbox over to New database? As Daredevil mentioned why did you use adsiedit?

Arbitration mailboxes are not visible and has to be done With EMC.This might cause Your error Message.Only way to find out is for you to stop the information store after business hour and try to delete database again.

Hi Off2work Thanks for your reply,

We didnt found any arbitration mailboxes and we were unable to delete the database from EMC, Hence we used ADSIEDIT, We will try and stop the information store after bussiness hours and try deleting the database again.

Hi,
It could be the Content Indexing holding the files (it usually does) so at first you can try to restart it.

Example:
Restart-Service MSExchangeSearch

Hi Martina,

I tried stopping MSExchangeSearch = Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer Service it didnt work, We had Maintenance window, After the activity we have rebooted the server, I tried removing the .edb and logfiles I was able to remove without any issues, I think Restarting MSExchange Information Service worked!!!

Thanks all for your support!!!!
