Unable to remove Exchange 2007 Public Folder Database
Hello, We have recently move our Exchange 2007 (Ex2k7) to Exchange 2010 SP1 (Ex2k10) . All the mailboxes and public folders are moved to Ex2k10. Now I want to remove the Public folder database from Ex2k7. I referred the link (http://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/upgrade-from-exchange-2007-to-exchange-2010---part-iii/) and ran the command .\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server 2007MBX -NewServer 2010MBX. After 2 weeks I ran the command Get-PublicFolderDatabase -Identity "Public Folder Database" | Remove-PublicFolderDatabase, but it gives error. [PS] C:\Users\administrator.VITEOS\Desktop>Get-PublicFolderDatabase -Identity "Public Folder Database" | Remove-PublicFolderDatabase The public folder database "VxxxxBLREX1\Public Folder\Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions about how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409&clcid=0x409. + CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (VxxxxBLREX1\Pu...Folder Database:ADObjectId) [Remove-PublicFolderDatabase], InvalidOperationException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : 79CFD1AB,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.RemovePublicFolderDatabase Can somebody please advise how should I proceed for the same. Thanks

After running this command, I can see 4 system folders and 1 default folder still residing on the old Exchange 2007 database. When I go to EMC and then to these Public Folder I can see only Exchange 2010 server under replicas. Kindly let me know how I should move them to new Exchange 2010 server.

Hello Amit, I see that all of the folders has been moved to the Exchange server 2010. But, I would usually keep the old Public folder store dosmounted for few days and make sure no one reports any issue related to PF. If you still getting the error then we should delete the PF store fom ADSIEDIT by following the below process. It is recommended to have AD Backup on any domain controllers, before you use ADSIEdit.msc at anytime. Then Open ADSIEdit.msc Expand Configuration Partition | Expand CN=Configuration | CN=Services | CN=Microsoft Exchange | CN=<Organization Name> | CN=<Administrative Group> | CN=Servers | CN=Information Store | CN=<Storage Group Name> | right clik on the CN=<Public Folder Store>, which is requried to delete it.
