Unable to move or remove default database
I am having an issue moving or removing a default database. Note, I renamed the database to "Journal" for it's intended use, but have not configured any mailboxes on it. There are other databases created. Here is my scenario. Exchange 2010 SP1 is installed in a child domain. I am unable to move the database path or remove the database. If I try to move the database path I get the error.. Summary: 1 item(s). 0 succeeded, 1 failed. Elapsed time: 00:00:14 Journal Failed Error: Active Directory operation failed on MKE01SDC02.bas.corp.dom. This error is not retriable. Additional information: Insufficient access rights to perform the operation. Active directory response: 00002098: SecErr: DSID-03150A48, problem 4003 (INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS), data 0 The user has insufficient access rights. The same error is generated except the domain controller name is different. i have tried multiple domain controllers in the root, as well as the child domain. Move-databasepath "journal' -domaincontroller MKE01VS20408310 -edbfilepath F:\Journal\Database\Database.edb -logfolder F:\Journal\Logs I also get the same error if I try removing the arbitration mailboxes from the database with the command.. New-MoveRequest –identity “SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}” -TargetDatabase "db1 a-i" -DomainController MKE01VS20408310 The "Allow inheritable permissions" box is checked on both the system account and the account I am attempting to move. The account I am using is an enterprise admin in the root domain and an Organization Administrator for Exchange. I have also trying giving the account explicit rights to the mailbox by running the command.. Get-Mailbox -Arbitration -DomainController MKE01VS20408310 | Add-MailboxPermission -User Admin -AccessRights FullAccess -domaincontroller mke01vs20408310 Attempting to remove the database I get the standard error telling me there are still mailboxes configured on the database. The only mailbox that exists on the database is the systemmailbox, which as stated, I am unable to move. http://jaworskiblog.com

I spent a day trying every suggestions out there. I ended up removing the SystemMailbox using ADSI edit. I was then able to remove the Mailbox Database.http://jaworskiblog.com
