Unable to install Office Home & Student 2013 on Windows 8

Hi

I am trying to install the new office 2013 onto my brand new laptop.

The file has downloaded but I can not get it to run and install

error message cannot find file, please check you have typed in the correct file name

then after that I get file not installed, please check your internet connection

and/or the file size maybe too large please check your hard drive and retry installation.

The internet connection is fine and this is the first thing I am putting onto the laptop apart from Norton.

Help would be very appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Which installation version of Office 2013 have you downloaded?

If it is a Click-to-Run version, I would suggest you try the MSI version.

Following are the steps we use to download Office 2010 MSI version, you may refer to it and download the Office 2013 MSI version for you:

Install Office 2010 using the MSI installation option
  1. Visit the site where you purchased Office 2010, and sign in with the same Live ID that you used when you first purchased Office 2010.
  2. Click the My Account link at the top of the home page to access your Office downloads.
  3. Click the Download button for the suite that you purchased, and then click the Advanced Options link under the Download Now button.
  4. Select a version of Office 2010 that is not listed as a Click-to-Run application

If you haven't done this yet or haven't resolved this yet, try the troubleshooting steps that always works for me as a technician below :

Uninstall Office 2013 using FixIt

Remove Microsoft Office 15 folder in C:\Program Files

Remove Office folders in registry from the locations :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

Restart Computer

Reinstall Office

Bless you Dan Alelojo!

I was struggling with this for hours before I found your post - followed your steps to the letter and now it's all sorted.

I was starting to lose faith in Microsoft support when I kept seeing posts by MS staff that included instructions like "In Windows 8, press the Start button..."

One thing I will add is the location of the FixIt tool I used, which you can find here:

support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501?wa=wsignin1.0

Thanks!

Same here!, bought lenovo m72e PC, office 2013 should have been pre-installed instead starting Office 2013 brought up the error: cannot find C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Client64\integratedoffice.exe

I deleted the registry entries, and directories; then it re-installed.

Lenovo claimed microsoft had done some updates and somehow overwritten it...

Whatever.
