Unable to add a big hyperlink - Visio 2013

Hi,

I am trying to add a huge hyperlink to a shape and it is not taking all of it. As a result, when I click on the shape, it shows a page not found message. It is an intranet link, so it is very big. What can I do to get around this?

I have also tried to change the link using ShapeSheet, and the same this happens.

I'm on Visio 2013. Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Nikhil,

Based on your description, could you tell me the meaning of huge hyperlink? Is this link address very long? Or other meanings of huge hyperlink?

As far as I know, the hyperlink you can enter in Visio max string length is 255 characters, and this limitation is not only appeared in Visio. You can test it in Excel or SharePoint, you can get the same result.

Now please try to copy your hyperlink address in Word and check if the characters of your link is more than 255 characters. If your link is more than 255 characters, it will be truncated to 255 characters. This issue might be caused by design behavior.

As a workaround, you can store your objects in a short links to folders.

Hope its helpful.
