Unable to Insert PDF to Powerpoint 2010 getting error

Hi,

I am getting this error "The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error.
You may need to reinstall the server application" when I am trying to insert an PDF file into Powerpoint slide I am using this method to insert the pdf file => from INSERT menu=>OBJECT=>Create from file. I have unchecked the protected mode at start up from security settings of adobe reader (I am using ver 11.0.0.9) and other suggested troubleshooting but no luck so far please help me out of this problem.

I have done the following troubleshooting so far with no luck,as the problem persist:-

1)Reinstall the Adobe reader 11.0.0.9

2)repair the office 2010 64 bit

3)removed the Adobe reader 11.0.0.9 ver and tried the same for ver 9 and ver 10

4) unchecked the protected mode at start up from security settings of adobe reader

5)Clean boot method is also of no use as I tried it also.

Microsoft really needs to  take note of it as it seems to be a bug in 64 bit office

Hi Swapnil,

It's a common issue when you try to embed an object in your presentation. In most cases, the reason is because Adobe Reader X has a new Protected mode, and usually, disable that protected mode will fix the issue.

For your case, I'd suggest you try to re-register the Component Object Model provider, OLE32.dll and see if it helps:

Just type: regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll in the CMD window, and then press Enter. Click OK.

Hope it helps.

I'd like to share this link with you: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00236_Can-t_edit_Org_Chart-_Graph-_Excel_-error_msg-_-server_application-_source_file-_or_item_can-t_be_found--.htm

It's hard to say it's a bug of Office product. The explaination in above link might help you to understand this error.

Thanks,

I have the same problem to insert a PDF in PPT with 64 bits. I have tired almost equally many solutions.

regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll  in CMD led to an error. So I cannot change this.
