Ugrading from Exchange 2000-2003, then Active Directory 2000-2003 on the domain controller
If we follow the procedures for upgrading our exchange server 2000 to 2003, for example executing 1) Forest Prep 2) Domain Prep then 3) Active Directory Connector Upgrade:When we get to the part where we want to upgrade our current Windows Server 2000 domain controller to Windows Server 2003, do we need to run Forest Prep and Domain Prep again to prep the domain for this upgrade?I read somewhere that you need to do the Exchange prep first; but recently did not find any info regarding that when doing an entire upgrade to 2003 server including exchange. Can someone give me an outline version of the order of operations or point me to an article that does? Thanks!

Yes you need to prepare the Forest/Domain 2 times (one for Exchange and one for Windows) Upgrade your schema for Exchange 2003 First as there could be some problems with attributes that get mangled http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314649 Exchange 2003 setup /forestprep setup /domainprep http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124110.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997526.aspx After this you can run the Windows 2003 adprep /forestprep adprep /domainprep adprep /domainprep /gpprep http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/bc5ebbdb-a8d7-4761-b38a-e207baa734191033.mspx?mfr=true Deli
