Two exchange servers on One Domain
I have asinge 2003 Exchange server , i receintly anadditional 2003 exchange server, and moved one user to it with no problems, but when i go to send mail from the user i moved to a user whos mailbox is on the otherr exchange server, it does not send. When i traced the email it shows it going out into the internet, i am confused on what i need to do. Both servers a located in the same domain and on the same lan? Any thoughs or comments would be great!! Thanks Chris

Both servers, i would assume are in the same Exchange org right? When you pull up ESM, under servers you see both? Is there a routing group defined and are they both members?

Yes that is correct they are both in the same ORG I have first routing group, and under members both are listed, the first exchange server set up is the master

That is definitely odd. SMTP is up and running on both servers right? Try running an ExBPA against your exchange org: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/bb288481.aspx

Yes, i can send email from the second server external fine too. For example to my yahoo account... and my first exchange server can send and receive email fine, except from my second exchange server.. how ever when i reply back to an email sent from the second exchange server i get this: Your mail system could not find a way to successfully communicate with the destination system. Please notify your administrator. < lomwsm39.mwlo.mailwatch.com #5.5.2 SMTP; 500 Too many RECEIVED headers. Possible message loop.>

This is what ExBPA gives me: The computer account for Exchange server server2003.Electri-Cord.local does not appear to contain the fully-qualified domain name of Exchange SMTP virtual server 'Default SMTP Virtual Server'. This may cause Kerberos authentication to fail when sending messages between servers. The tool expected to find 'SMTPSVC/electri-cord.com' in the 'servicePrincipalName'.

are you seeing authentication failures in either servers security log? What happens when you track a server to server message? If you don't have message tracking enabled here's how: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Exchange-2003-Message-Tracking-Logging.html
