I have two exch2013 CU8 servers and we use IMAP for one service.  We are running into an issue with one of the two servers.  If I point the IMAP connection at exch01's IP address it works fine.  If I point the same setup to Exch02's IP address it fails and I have no idea why.  

The services are started on both servers and the default ports are being used for the IMAP connectivity.  What else could stop IMAP from functioning.  

I enabled protocol logging and i do not think i am seeing anything show up in the logs from the test connection.  There are only entries for a healthmailbox in there.  

The Windows firewall is currently turned off and there is no additional AV / Firewall services that could interfere with the inbound connection.

After days of searching for a solution to this seemingly simple issue I found my answer.  

In short i tried telnetting to the server on the IMAP ports and it would not give me a banner.  I then disabled the services on the server and i could not telnet any longer.  So now i know the services are working.  I then found this article and success!
