Have you installed antispam agents? try to uninstall them first and then apply SP1, and install them again afterwards by the way, you should always patch your Client Access servers first

remove the antispam agents and also the exchange search program from add/remove programs. if add/remove does not provide a remove option, use microsoft cleanup utility (search goggle/bing for msicuu2) to remove it and then attempt the install again. worked for me thanks to pss.

Hi, May be exchnage SP1 binary is corrupted. Download fresh file to another location and try to install. And also may be Forefront or ativirus application is also causing the issue. So before installing exchnage, please stop or uninstall these application. You could also check permission of user account used for upgrade. You could also check exchnagesetup.logs files as well as in application event logs for more details. Thanks, Vidyanand
