Trying to rewrite portion of FROM field on outgoing mail...
Setup: Server = Exchange 2007 Client =Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 Problem: We have an internal mailbox named "Email SharedMailbox Name". When it sends out to internet the messageheaders look like this... From: Email SharedMailbox Name <address@company.co.nz>To:Test User<testuser@internet.co.nz>Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2008 09:46:55 +1200Subject: Test What we want to do is alter the "Email SharedMailbox Name" portion of all messages and change them to something like "CompanyName Support". The email address portion is fine and needs to stay unchanged. I have found information on rewriting the actual email address (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995976(EXCHG.80).aspx) but what we want to do is rewrite the extra mailbox name information that comes with it. Its easy enough with Outlook Express and Internet mail accounts but seems to be a little harder to do with a corporate Exchange envionment. Question: Can Exchange 2007 or Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 do this natively and in an automated fashion so the email sender doesn't have to think about it or do anything special?

Hi,If I understand your query correctly you just want to change the display name of the mailbox "Email SharedMailbox Name", So by just changing the display name of the mailbox on the exchange server should resolve the issue....I hope I have got your query correctly. Please correct if I am wrong.Regards,Rags

Thanks for your quick reply... We need to alter it for all outbound messages but need it to keep the display name what it is internally for list sorting/etc in the GAL and consoles/etc. We just want customers to see a different display name. Its really easy to rewrite the email address but I just can't find a way of rewriting the display name. In Outlook Express for internet mail its really easy...

OK just found my own answer...simply alter the "Display Name" attribute for the Active Directory account associated with the mailbox and viola sorted...
