Trying to install Hub Transport Role on Exchange Server 2010 and getting an error
I am trying to install the Hub Transport Role on exchange server 2010 and it is failing. Also because it is failing it will also not install the client acces role or the mailbox role. im getting an error and so far I cannot figure out what is causing this. I have done some searching. Ive done this before and I have installed all the required pre-requisites. Here is the following error: error: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); if ($RolseStartTransportService){start-SetupService-ServiceName MSExchangeTransport}"was run: "MSExchangeTransport' failed to reach status "Running" onthis server.". Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this. Ive tried completely removing and resintalling Exchange server.

If the install keeps failing, then I would probably remove Exchange completely, wipe the box and reinstall Windows. I work on the basic principle that everything should work immediately, if it doesn't and the issue isn't immediately obvious (such as wrong network configuration), then I rebuild. Also ensure that you are using the latest SP2 installation files for the install - all Exchange service packs contain the complete installation files (minus UM language packs). By any chance, have the default NTFS permissions on the disk been changed? What permissions are currently in place at the root of the disk for example? I do see this when the necessary permissions are removed. I like Simon's reply. By the way, the error appears if you disable the IPv6 on the server.Frank Wang TechNet Community Support

Before wiping this I'd confirm that this is indeed a default install of windows and that various changes have not been made either manually or via GPO. Else you are back to square1 and no further forward. I'm not saying that the pave approach is without merit, but it will not hurt to confirm the above prior to doing that.
