Trying to figure out why exchange stopped accepting emails at 6:30pm, warning messages below
The only exchange error message I am getting at that time is: Anti-spam agents are enabled, but the list of internal SMTP servers is empty. If there are any MTAs between this server and the Internet, populate this list by using the Set-TransportConfig cmdlet in the Exchange Management Shell. Our systems admin change our routerand turned on VPN, they claim they did not make any other changes. Then they rebooted.I do not know if this has anything to do withit, their were warning messages from about the time the email stopped coming through until the exchange services were restarted, the message was: The description for Event ID ( 100 ) in Source ( StatisticsManagerClient ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Wed Jan 28 19:59:21 2009 10496 WARN Error hr=0x80070005 Access is denied. When Iget-transportconfig the internal SMTP is empty. A couple ofquestions: How do I determine is we use the MTA between the server and internet and if we want theinternal SMTP populated. Thanks for helping the newbee.

Do you have any mail servers between your internal Exchange server and your edge server? If not, then you don't have any MTAs between them. Possibly your edge server subscription is broken.

No I do not believe we have any mailservers between the internal exchange server and edge server, they are on one. How do I determine if our edge server subscription is broken and how to fix? Funny thing is all the emails are working fine right now. Thanks

If you don't have an edge server or any other mail servers you can ignore the message regarding the internal SMTP servers list being empty. I think Exchange uses the list to exclude those servers from being filtered by the spam engine.
