Trying to Use Root Domain Exchange 2010 Server with from a Child Domain
I am trying to setup users in my child domain, on my root domain's Exchange 2010 server. I get a Domain Controller not found error when I try to add the account. Based on some reading I did, I thought I would try setup /prepareAD on the child domain controller, however it is 32 bit and it is complaining about setup being 64-bit. I didn't have these issues when I setup exchange in the root domain. It's DC is also 32-bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, When you want to create user mailboxes for users in a child domain you have to select a domain controller in the child domain when creating. Are you using the Management Console or the management Shell? /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

I am using the Management Console, I will eventually have to show my coworkers how to do this, and they will need to use the console if possible. It however does not give me a place to select the domain when creating the mailbox. Thanks for your reply. Jared

Hi, I just tried myself, and as long as i choose the OU in the child domain it creates the user just fine. You could try and prepare the domain for Exchange, and you can try and do this from the root domain with the "setup /PrepareAllDomains" /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

That did it. The setup /PrepareAllDomains from the exchange server worked. Thanks for your help
