Trying To get Mail Enabled Public folders working on Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Rollup 9
Hi , I have just installed my first Exchange Server 2007 into a closed network ( i.e. not connected to the internet ) and I'm trying to get mail enabled Public folders to work. I have two problems. 1) I have mail enabled the Public folder in the exchange management Console. It created a mailbox addressas part of the process. But when I try and send mail messages to it, they get bounced by the exchnage server, saying that it can't find a route to the mail address.2) In outlook 2007, I can see the public folder, but I can't create any objects in it or access anything in it. I have given "Owner" permissions to my userid and "everyone" and "anonymous". Yet I still get a message saying that I don't have permissions to access the folder. What am I doing wrong?Graham

Did you created the Public folder store manually? or was it created by exchange default installation? Check below steps 1. We were unable to send emails to the mail enabled public folders. 2. Checked the status of mail and it was stuck in Queue. 3. Last Error is There is currently no route to the mailbox database 4. We didnt have Folder Hierarchies Under CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT) 5. Created the "Folder Hierarchies" under the Exchange Administrative Group: 1. Right click on Exchange Administrative Group 2. Select New Object 3. Select msExchclassContainer for the class and click Next 4. Enter the following for the value: Folder Hierarchies, click Next 5. Click Finish 6. Created Public Folder Tree Object using adsiedit: 1. Right click CN=Folder Hierarchies -> New Object 2. Selected msExchPFTree for the class 3. For the value we entered, "Public Folders" and clicked next 4. Clicked on the "More Attributes" button, selected msExchPFTreeType and set the value to 1. Note: This is very important that this value is set to a value of 1 as this tells Exchange that this is a MAPI Tree 5. Click Ok and then finish 7. Populated msExchOwningPFTreeBL attribute object of the PF Stores in the organization using adsiedit: 1. Get properties of the newly created "Public Folders" Tree object in ADSIedit. 2. Copy the distinguishedname value to the clipboard and then click cancel. 3. Navigate to the Storage group that contains the Public Folder Store for this server and get properties of the server. 4. CN=Public Folders,CN=Folder Hierarchies,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=Intelglobe,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=intelglobe,DC=local 5. Locate the msExchOwningPFTree attribute and paste in the value that was copied to the clipboard. 8. Restart the Information Store Service 9. All stores came online and we were able to send emails to the mail enabled public folder. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrtransport/thread/22f1373c-8685-438b-a677-6c7b0522efc5 Also related one below http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdeploy/thread/fbfa5bd3-ed84-4569-ac56-003234fd6774 Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
