Trouble with Contacts list in Office 2016 for mac

Hi -

One of our users just upgraded to Office 2016 for Mac and everything imported into the new Outlook fine, except for contacts.  The contacts are there, but in the "People" tab of Outlook, he just sees rows and rows of the circular colored icons with contact initials in them.  If he makes the box bigger, it just fills with more icons.  It's making his contact list unusable as it freezes the machine when he tries to use it.

Is this a setting in Outlook, or did something happen during the import of his contacts? Account is setup as an Exchange account.  We've tried setting up the account several times, same thing happens.

I tried to attach a screenshot but the upload function here isn't working.  This issue has already been referred from two other forums.  Anyone have any ideas?

Hi James,

If you use OWA or any other version of outlook, is there the same issue?

If the issue only for Office 2016, I recommend you post this in office forum also, as this is not an exchange issue, and

they should have more professional knowledge on office 2016 and you may get effective solution timely.

This is the 3rd forum I've posted it in.  Office 365, Outlook, now here.  So far, the only responses I've gotten have directed me to post it somewhere else.  In the meantime, Outlook is useless.  We just went back to Office 2011 and so far, that's working.  I'll re-post as we'd like to upgrade to 2016, but can't have any more downtime with Outlook until we have a fix.
