Transitioning from a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server to Exchange Server 2007 Question
Hi All Well, I'm in the process of moving to Microsoft Server 2007 but I was wondering if I would run into issue migrating Microsoft Server 2007 with my Current AD. To give you better understanding here is a brief history of my domain: - Upgraded an old NT4 domain to Windows 2000 mixed mode. - Installed Exchange 2000 (new install, never used Exchange before). - Upgraded domain to Windows 2000 Native mode. - Uninstalled Exchange 2000. - Prepared domain for Windows Server 2003 R2. - Installed Windows 2003 R2 servers, added to domain, promoted to DCs. - Demoted Windows 2000 DCs. - Upgraded domain and forest to Windows Server 2003 Native mode. - Now we are planning to install Exchange 2007. The question I need answered is do I need to Run Legacy Exchange Permissions described in this document http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/4c32f70c-d42b-4bf4-995e-65b68a947194.aspx even though Ive updated the schema since Ive Uninstalled Exchange 2000 Thanks Dean

That would depend on whether you cleaned up the exchange 2000 organization from AD. Its easy to check using ADSI Edit, the following kb833396 If you are planning on installing Exchange 2007 as a brand new organization, then I would delete the old exchange organization from AD, force replication and start afresh - its cleaner that way.
